Message From The Mayor
NYS Rt. 59 over South Pascack Road
Bridge Rehabilitation
This project will undertake actions to extend the service life of the section of bridge over Pascack Road, on Route 59 that is within the Village of Spring Valley.
The project will replace steel girders and the concrete bridge deck, as well as bridge railing and pedestrian fencing. Abutments and wingwalls will
be repaired. Rehabilitating the bridge will bring it into compliance with modern design standards, extend the bridge’s life and reduce current maintenance costs.
It will also allow the bridge to carry all legal loads, including tractor trailers, and remove the current weight rating.
Site work will begin in the spring, with the bridge closure and detour implementation anticipated to begin on or about May 21.
The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic before Labor Day.
The plan involves closing the bridge to traffic during construction to minimize the project’s impact on the community and to complete the project
more quickly. The detour utilizes Forman Drive, South Pascack Road, Pipetown Hill Road and South Central Avenue. Businesses along that stretch of Route 59 will remain open and accessible.
Taxi service will shuttle pedestrians around the construction area.
