The SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance works to assist small business owners, homeowners, renters and private nonprofit organizations recover from a disaster.
When disaster strikes, the SBA helps businesses and individuals with low-interest loans to help them repair, rebuild and recover. We work with FEMA and other federal, state and local agencies to offer recovery assistance. With this Presidential declaration, businesses, homeowners, renters and private nonprofit organizations in eight New York counties are eligible to apply for physical disaster loans to repair damages caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Those counties are Bronx, Kings, Nassau, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans. Those adjacent counties are New York, Orange and Putnam in New York; Fairfield in Connecticut; and Bergen and Passaic in New Jersey.
To help businesses affected by the disaster, we have opened Business Recovery Centers (BRCs) where Customer Service Representatives are available to answer questions about the disaster loan program and assist disaster survivors.
