           The Village of Spring Valley's Parking Enforcement Unit's responsibilities are:

· To explain parking regulations and assist the public with destination directions;

· To receive requests, maintain records and obtain approval for the installation of traffic control signs;

· To patrol streets and municipal parking lots observing cars for compliance with parking regulations;

· To maintain files and issue parking permits for municipal parking lots utilized by commuters and local merchants;

· To issue summonses to parking violators;

· To maintain files of summonses issued and/or prepare court calendar of such summonses;

· To observe private properties and parking lots for compliance in conjunction with the Village of Spring Valley's Building and Fire Inspector Departments codes and regulations.

         The Parking Enforcement Unit may verify car owners from license numbers and follow up on delinquent violators by form letter.  The Parking Enforcement Unit also acts as an agent for the Village of Spring Valley in the removal and selling of abandoned, unclaimed vehicles and/or fine violators.

         No Parking Rules and Regulations for overnight parking go into effect on  November 15 and ends April 15th.  During this time there is NO PARKING on any street within the Village of Spring Valley from 2 AM—6 AM.

         The Village of Spring Valley's Parking Enforcement Rules and Regulations are in accordance with NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, the Village of Spring Valley Code Book, NYS Official Compilation Code Rules and Regulations, NYS Uniform Fire Prevention & Building Code and NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.
