Spring Valley water was a native water, brought to the surface from flowing underground springs. These springs trickled through solid rock and pursued their way in cool, clean; channels, converging here, separating there, and ever flowing, increasing and distributing in volume, and ever dirt-free, germ-free, and uncontaminated, impregnated with life-giving chemicals, and ice cold.

The surface, a panorama of rolling hills, enchanting valleys, gurgling brooks and mountain streamlets, the rises of the Ramapo foothills, and the masses of foliage and isolated forest trees, the white gleam of birches, the shadowy strands of willow, the waving branches of the ashes and the rich green masses of the maples, interspersed with the dark spike of pine and cedar, presented the most idyllic scenery to be found anywhere. The climate of Spring Valley is mild, the air dry and pure.
