No man has done more for Spring Valley than Edwin Gould. No reasonable request for aid made on behalf of any Spring Valley institution or organization was turned down by him. The Edwin Gould Foundation, incorporated in 1923 by a special Act of the New York State Legislature and endowed by Edwin Gould, established the Lakeside School for Girls and the Kingsland Industrial School for Boys, both situated on South Main Street. The Edwin Gould Foundation still runs the school to date.
